My system is vista 32 bits, with powerdvd 7.3 (including updates).When starting a bluray disk, I hear the proper sound and I even see subtitles.   It seemed to be a driver problem, and didn\'t happen with my 2600XT. This just happened to me as well, Vista 32-bit, powerdvd 7.x (latest 7 version), Both a 2 month old ATI driver version and latest driver version on a 2600 card. The movie was Indiana Jones/Crystal Skull.It started fine, with white cutout of Indiana Jones and his whip, then went to black screen with audio. Then the Bluray menu came up and the bottom with audio but with no video at top.

  Playing the movie led to a black screen but with working audio. I tried installing latest Catalyst version to no avail. It makes no sense. When I started with Powerdvd, version 8.10 was installed on my system. I upgraded the driver to 8.11 to see if driver 8.10 was the problem.   Solved!I am very happy to say that this problem is solved. I started out by removing the Ati driver to be able to install an older version than 8.10. When the driver was un-installed i tried powerdvd, just for fun. Guess what, the bluray played fine without the ati driver!I then went on to install 8.9 and again the blurays were playing fine in powerdvd. I then did the same (uninstall) and installed 8.10.with 8.10 installed, powerdvd is not playing bluray for me.So, I went back to 8.9 and this is working fine. Apparently from 8.10 on, something happened that causes powerdvd to go black. I\'ve had several things which have fixed this on my setup.

  

  I have an ATI card, and drivers are whatever was available in Dec 08.First, I got rid of the two startup processes from PDVD, PDVDSRV.EXE and BDR??EXE or something like that. I don\'t remember the second name. It was the second one that was related to Region Code that got my BD to work.After doing that, I still had the trouble with all disks from time to time and went to configuration in PDVD, video, advanced.

  Turned off Hardware accel, and turned off de-interlace. The video begins, you can go set the items back to HWA and DI.Only certain disks have this trouble, but after I load one disk with it, others stop working until I get the first to play.

  Then they all work again.I have seen this on BD and DVD both.I don\'t think I\'ve had a BD not play since eliminating the Reg Code EXE (not positive of that). I do know that I still have this issue with regular Dual layer movie isos.I have never seen it on a single layer DVD iso.

Some movies would show a black screen right from the start and others would play for a while first.I uninstalled 8.11 and installed 8.10 and PowerDVD started working again.Another issue I had that complicated the situation is I also installed the latest audio driver for my motherboard (GA-P35-DS4). It turns out that the Realtek audio driver version 2.00 causes PowerDVD to crash/lockup with a blank screen if the audio is configured to \'Use SPDIF\'.

  Downgrading to Gigabyte\'s previous audio driver, version 1.97 fixed the problem, as did downloading and installing the latest generic Realtek audio driver (version 2.09).Note I tried several different versions of PowerDVD (4102, 4407 and 4617) while using Realtek 2.00 and Catalyst 8.11 and they all had the same problems. Now I\'m running 4617 with Cat 8.10 and Realtek 2.09 and everything works perfectly again.Thanks! I will try this, but I don\'t think it\'s the problem here. When I started with Powerdvd, version 8.10 was installed on my system. I upgraded the driver to 8.11 to see if driver 8.10 was the problem. I am going to try some lower driver numbers as well 8.9 and 8.8, to see if that helps. I already have realtek 2.09 installed.

  Solved!I am very happy to say that this problem is solved. I started out by removing the Ati driver to be able to install an older version than 8.10. When the driver was un-installed i tried powerdvd, just for fun. Guess what, the bluray played fine without the ati driver!I then went on to install 8.9 and again the blurays were playing fine in powerdvd. I then did the same (uninstall) and installed 8.10.with 8.10 installed, powerdvd is not playing bluray for me.So, I went back to 8.9 and this is working fine. Apparently from 8.10 on, something happened that causes powerdvd to go black. I\'ve had several things which have fixed this on my setup.

  

  I have an ATI card, and drivers are whatever was available in Dec 08.First, I got rid of the two startup processes from PDVD, PDVDSRV.EXE and BDR??EXE or something like that. I don\'t remember the second name. It was the second one that was related to Region Code that got my BD to work.After doing that, I still had the trouble with all disks from time to time and went to configuration in PDVD, video, advanced.

  Turned off Hardware accel, and turned off de-interlace. The video begins, you can go set the items back to HWA and DI.Only certain disks have this trouble, but after I load one disk with it, others stop working until I get the first to play.

  Then they all work again.I have seen this on BD and DVD both.I don\'t think I\'ve had a BD not play since eliminating the Reg Code EXE (not positive of that). I do know that I still have this issue with regular Dual layer movie isos.I have never seen it on a single layer DVD iso.
